Message from the Headteacher
We are very lucky to have annual membership to Glastonbury Abbey. Yesterday I took one of our Reception Classes across for an Autumn walk. I was so impressed with how well they listened and stayed safe holding hands as we walked through the town.
As we walked around the grounds we focussed on our language and extending sentences. We saw squirrels darting up a tree, tiny droplets of morning dew and blazing orange leaves tumbling to the ground. Language development is a crucial part of childhood development. It supports the ability of your child to communicate, and express and understand feelings. It also supports your child's thinking ability and helps them develop and maintain relationships. Language development lays the foundation for the reading and writing skills in children as they enter and progress through school. When talking and playing with your child try to introduce new words and ask them to repeat them back. Reading to your child also exposes them to language and new words.
Enjoy the awesome Autumn sunshine!
