Tips for Parents
How much attention, does your child get, for behaviour you DON'T like happening?
It can be easy to stop noticing all the good things that go on in families. We might be quick to point out when a child is doing something wrong but fail to notice and praise when they are doing something right.
If this goes on too long, a child might learn that an easy way to get some attention is to annoy their sister or draw you into pointless arguments.
Professor Matt Saunders suggests making a particular effort to notice positive behaviour so that it increases. As you do this, where possible, plan to ignore minor irritations and see if those die out.
