Message from the Headteacher
On Tuesday this week, a group of Year 2 children visited Brunelcare Home in Glastonbury, to sing our Coronation song and other songs to some of the residents. The children were amazing and sang and chatted to the residents so confidently. This is the first of many visits planned to the care home to support our local community.
On the 26th of May we will be holding a non-school uniform fundraiser day to raise funds for the 'I See You Community Social Fund' led by the care home. Their aim is to financially support those residents in care/nursing homes across the UK on Local Authority funding who have little or no financial means to access the necessities of life. Local Authority funding often only covers the care/nursing home fees and residents are unable to buy the essentials of life such as clothing, toiletries, keep hair tidy or even buy a snug pair of slippers or shoes. I hope you will be able to support this worthwhile cause and bring in any donations on the day. The patron of the charity, Paul Denegri, will also be teaching us the song he wrote for the charity for us to perform to the residents: I see you song.
In another bid to support our local community we will also be setting up our very own food pantry that the school and local community can donate to or collect from. We are able to this due to the support we have received from the charity 'Love Glastonbury'. Please see below for the opening times of Love Glastonbury community fridge and pantry.
The school pantry will be available every day and will hopefully provide food essentials to families who need them. We will be accepting dry goods but not homemade or perishable food. More details to follow.
Finally, a small group of parents are desperately trying to pull together a school fair for our children to raise vital funds to keep the pool running and also to provide a fun afternoon for our families. Can you help with any of the following:
- Run a stall on the day
- Donate a raffle prize
- Suggest traders for outside stalls - stalls are only £5 each
Our next meeting is Thursday 18th May 3.10-4.10pm, why not come along. We could really do with your help. Creche available.
Have a great weekend,
Kerry Devane
